Earwax: To Remove or Not to Remove?

I personally had been treated with my ear infection just this year. It was extremely painful and I feel like I’m going to be deaf. Then I decided to go to the doctor to see what’s on my ear. I’m surprised there was something on it. A white-like-plastic or something… I don’t know what it is. The doctor said maybe dirt and there’s an infection. I have to take antibiotic and get back to him and see if the infection is still there. I got back after a week and the infection was gone.

After a month the pain got back, I’ve got ear infection again unfortunately. I go to another doctor and she said that whenever I take a bath, I should wear ear plug because the water is getting on my ear and another reason is that, I’m removing my earwax so frequently (almost every day). That’s because whenever I feel itch on my ear, I rush on my room and get a cotton buds.

My doctor also said that I should have a little earwax on my ear because if it is too clean, my ears would really get dry and itchy. She said that my ears are so dry so she recommended some vitamins. I got better after that. I’ve used my earplug for about 6 months and fortunately, the infection doesn’t come back. I should always be careful with my ear.

Now to answer the question, TO REMOVE OR NOT TO REMOVE EARWAX, according to some doctors, earwax removal should be left on your ear. You don’t have to remove it unless you are experiencing symptoms associated with earwax buildup and blockage of your ear canal. These symptoms include earache, progressive hearing loss, tinnitus, noises on your ear, itching, odor or discharge. According to what my doctor said, you should leave a little earwax on your ear because if it’s too clean, the ears would get too dry and itchy and the tendency is, you will have to use cotton buds to relieve the itch which can make the scenario worst, just like on my case.

So the verdict, LEAVE YOUR EARWAX ON YOUR EARS! Don’t be so stubborn and have self discipline! I’ve learned my lessons pretty well. Heheheh

General Guidelines
In nutritional science, food energy is spoken of in term of a heat unit, the calorie (actually the large calorie, or kilocalorie). The only sources of calories are carbohydrates, proteins, fats and alcohol. If the number of calories taken is greatly exceeding the number used, the excess is stored as fat and obesity results. With proper dieting and exercise, however, the fat stored in the body will supply some of the dieter's energy needs while maintaining good health. For most people the recommended rate of weight loss is about 0.7 to 0.9 kg (1.5 to 2 lb) per week. This can be achieved on diet limited to 1200 – 1500 calories a day for woman and 1.500 – 2.000 calories a day for men; calorie needs of children vary greatly, and their rates of weight loss should be prescribed by physician.

Leptospirosis

Leptospirosis, or Weil's diseases, is an acute fever caused by a spiral bacteria, Leptospira (Spirocheae), communicated from animals to humans, commonly through skin contact with rat infested water or sewage. If often takes a fatal form characterized by jaundice and bleeding. Leptospira may also cause Meningitis. The treatment for human infect of this bacteria is by penicillin.

That is the definition of leptospirosis only, the real human that is infected by this bacteria can cause many trouble on body organization. This bacteria come from rat urine which infected by this bacteria. The rat itself get this diseases from the mite which is stay on the rat. After secrete together with urine this bacteria just can live for few minute on a dry place. But if these bacteria can stay in water can live for longer time, about 10 days.

In Jakarta these diseases ever spread after flood disaster, may many of the rats also become a victim and many of rats have leptospirosis. Diseases happened after the flood finished and people clean the dirt after flooding. If there is no wound in the human body, this bacteria won't infected, the problem is Indonesian people often clean dirty place without protective equipment, such as booth shoe or rubber shoe and other equipment. When their food or hand becomes wound then they are infected by these bacteria.

This diseases symptom is similar with
Diabetes Mellitus is doe to an inability of the Pancreas to secrete sufficient Insulin to maintain a normal blood-glucose concentration. Secondary diabetes results from damage to or removal of the pancreas. Primary diabetes, the most common type is probably caused by both environmental and genetic factors.

The insulin dependent from of primary diabetes generally has its onset on childhood and characteristic by severe insulin deficiency. Without insulin, diabetic will develop ketoacidosis (high level of ketone bodies in blood, causing low blood pH and possible hearth failure) and coma (caused by high level of blood glucose).

The non-insulin dependent form usually occur in obese people of age 40 or older. They have higher than normal level of insulin, although the insulin is less effective in lowering blood glucose than in diabetics and they are rarely develop ketoacidosis. This pattern is also seen in population that have recently adopted Western process-food
Diagnosis and Treatment
A variety of methods may be used to diagnose diabetes mellitus. In the glucose tolerance test, for example, abnormal glucose metabolism is identified by having a patient who has fasted for 1.8 to 24 hours drink a concentrated solution o glucose; glucose concentration is then measured in blood and urine samples taken 1/2 , 1, 2, and 3 hours after ingestion. The most reliable diagnostic methods detect a blood glucose concentration greater than 140 milligrams per deciliter (normal is 70-1900 mg/dl) after an overnight fast. Also, the presence of 64 K antibody has proved a good predictor of insulin dependent diabetes.

After the isolation of insulin by Frederick G. Banting and Charles Best in 1921, death from ketoacidosis and diabetic coma decreased dramatically. The prolonged life span revealed long-term complications, however, including kidney failure, atheroscierotic heart diseases, blindness, and disorders of the nervous system. These complications are believed to be related to elevated blood-glucose concentrations. The objective of diabetes treatment, therefore, is to restore blood glucose to normal. In obese non-insulin-dependent diabetics the treatment of choice is weigh loss. If this method does not suffice, then oral hypoglycemic agents or insulin is required. Oral hypoglycemic agent act primarily by stimulating the patient’s pancreas to secrete additional insulin.

Insulin-dependent diabetics traditionally have been treated with one or two daily injections of slowly absorbable insulin. This made of insulin therapy; however, result in poor control of the blood glucose. The mimic the closely linked changes in blood glucose and insulin concentrations that occurs in healthy non-diabetics, new techniques for insulin is either injected with a syringe or infused using a small pump under the skin prior to each meal. Low insulin concentrations are maintained between meals by injecting a long-acting insulin preparation or by infusing insulin continuously. New forms of therapy, such as islet or pancreas transplantation, are aimed at normalizing glucose levels.

Causes and Treatment for Hair Loss

Causes of Hair loss

A lot of men today who suffer from hair loss are usually so intent on finding a solution, they will try almost anything. It's not that they are looking for some fountain of youth. They are just tired of hair loss making them look ten to fifteen years older than they really are, and they are committed to doing something decisive and positive about it.

Baldness and hair loss are not always inevitable, and the amount and rate of loss can often be diminished with the correct treatment. Some men have areas on the scalp that are very sensitive to the male sex hormones that circulate in men's blood. The hormones make the hair follicles - from which hair grows - shrink. Eventually, they become so small that they cannot replace lost hairs. The follicles are still alive, but are no longer able to perform their task.

Treatment for Hair Loss

There are various solutions for baldness available but only some of them work appreciably in reducing hair loss or controlling baldness. Baldness is generally regarded as natural, and not a disease. So if a person decides they wish to try to get their hair back, they will probably have to pay for the lengthy, expensive procedure themselves.
To solution to solving such a physical problem is to consult a doctor and follow the advice with the prescribed medication.

Visualization

Visualization within meditation involves holding one–pointed attention on some form of selected imagery. This serves three purposes:

  • To Increase skills in one-pointed concentration. For example, holding the image of a candle flame in your ‘mind’s eye’, then progressing to more complex images as your abilities improve.
  • To facilitate specific movements or ‘openings’ of energy within the body, as commonly practiced in Daoist meditations, where pathways of ‘life force’ are influenced. Also, in raja yoga, to activate or ‘open’ one of the chakras, or energy centres.
  • To focus our attention on the qualities to which we aspire, as embodied in the visual image of being or deity who possesses these qualities, or in a mandala that evokes these attributes.
Some people are able to visualize things easily whilst others find it difficult. It depends on whether or not you have a visual imagination. Either way, the ability to hold an image within your mind takes some practice. Developing any skill is best approached by starting from a point of simplicity and systematically progressing to the more complex. Therefore, taking a very straightforward image is a good way to start.

Tonsillectomies - To do or not to do

Tonsillectomies have long been the 'bread and butter' of the ENT surgeons. When they are indicated, they are a great help for the kids and parents, however it has been seen that a lot many tonsillectomies are NOT NECESSARY!So how do we decide when a tonsillectomy is indicated?A tonsillectomy is generally done for recurrent 'sore throat' or throat infections.

However in most children it has been shown that there is no significant decrease in the number of Upper respiratory infections (URI) after undergoing tonsillectomies (Sept 11, 2004, BMJ).

Only those children who get a documented (seen by a doctor, preferably)attack of URI of 6-7 times in 1 year, or 5 episodes per year for 2consecutive years, or 3 episodes per year for 3 consecutive years shouldprobably be taken up for tonsillectomy.

Among other reasons for tonsillectomies would be extremely large tonsils interfering with sleep (Obstructive Sleep Apnoea) detected by snoring, irregular sleep, daytime sleepiness, and mouth breathing. Also if a child has very severe URI's with long lasting symptoms tonsillectomy may be undertaken sooner.

Why Choose A Pediatrician To Care For Your Child?

The role of a pediatrician involves all of the following:

  • Screening and evaluating babies and children for appropriate growth and development, and assessing abnormalities and disabilities, if any.
  • Vaccination of babies and children, and advice about specific diseaseprevention.Advice on feeding, diet, food supplements, and other nutrition concerns.
  • Assessing illnesses and treating them, including admission to hospitalisation for serious diseases. Coordination of care for children receiving treatment from different specialists, and responsibility for the child's overall health.
  • Health education for the family.

Pediatricians have the most comprehensive medical trainingto respond to these needs.

How Are Pediatricians Trained?

A Pediatrician is a 'qualified' Child Specialist. In India this means that after doing his basic MBBS (5 years) a pediatrician has to undergo an additional training (for 2-3 years, on-the-job training) in dealing exclusively with children. This residency training prepares pediatricians to help meet the needs of healthy children in such areas as normal growth, development, nutrition and behavior. After completing the training an exam needs to be passed to become a Pediatrician. A normal physician has less pediatric training than pediatricians, and may not be able to provide the same quality of care to a child as a pediatrician. Some pediatricians have additional subspecialty training beyond residency. In the next part we will discuss the 'ideal qualities' to look for in a pediatrician!

  • Adolescents at high school entry or 15 years of age (whichever comes first) for those who have not previously been vaccinated

  • Other groups at high risk such as those with underlying medical conditions or travelers to areas with high rates of meningococcal disease

The recommendations will help prevent meningococcal disease, a potentially fatal bacterial infection. Although rare, meningococcal disease is dangerous because the disease progresses rapidly, and within hours of the onset of symptoms it may cause permanent disability or death.

Meningococcal disease is the most common cause of bacterial meningitis in U.S. toddlers, adolescents and young adults. Symptoms include high fever, headache, stiff neck, confusion, nausea, vomiting and exhaustion, and a rash may appear. Lifestyle factors thought to contribute to the disease include direct contact with an infected person, e.g., exchanging saliva, often through kissing; crowded living conditions, e.g., dormitories; and active or passive smoking. Vaccination is the best method of preventing meningococcal disease.

Meningococcal infections can be treated with drugs such as penicillin. "Still," says AAP President Carol Berkowitz, MD, FAAP, "about one in every ten people who get the disease dies from it, and many others are affected for life. That is why preventing the disease through use of meningococcal vaccine is important for the high-risk groups."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) determined that establishing the target age at 11 years may give lasting immunity through college. Studies have determined that the disease peaks in 16- to 18-year-olds, supporting vaccination of 15-year-olds.

More information on the vaccine can be found at the AAP Web site at http://www.aap.org/ and ask for online medical consultation at http://www.simplyanswer.com/

Body Piercing Effect

This
Most user for this model is teenagers, in America more than 10,000 people apply for this kind style. American college students also reported a high rate of complications, with 17 percent of students complaining of problems, including bleeding and infection. Nipple piercing appeared to be the most risky, with a 21 percent rate of bleeding or injury. Want to see on the nipple, no ... not here. :))

In the British study, 16-year-olds with piercings were also more likely to suffer from complications, with almost a third reporting problems and 15 percent seeking professional
The most common problems with piercings were swelling, infection and bleeding. Almost half of tongue piercings resulted in complications in the British survey. Young ladies use this want to see by others they need your attention. In Indonesia this style also happened but not spread to all teenagers, just in some place and limited social.

Bird Flu

Flu Bird first time known in the year 1878 at chicken in Italian area, that is known as " fowl plague". At the moment famous bird influenza disease in some state come from poultry livestock. In the year 1955 cause of flu bird diseases are founded there are type A and now more knowledgeable for type H7. By the end of 1950, types of other poultry have high pathogen of flu bird disease identified as called of type H5. The happening of flu bird found at the time cause of poultry a lot die, selective amputation and at least communications among breeder.

Pathogenesis
Process of infection "flu bird" still be unclear. Known as virus duplication happened in channel of intestine and exhalation because this epitel cell organ can yield the important enzyme to split the hemaglutinin virus to be active. The type pathogen which dangerous have the sour addition of amino apart place causing apart hemaglutinin with the broader enzyme addition to all body. In general virus earns immediately insulation from cloaca, incubation gyrate period is from some hours until one week. This depended from dose inoculants, virulent, main age and its type. Infection "flu bird" is often bewildered with the mushroom attendance, and other

Clinic Marking
Clinical marking from this flu bird virus vary depended of main factor attacked (for example type, age, gender, and its infection), also type of virus of environmental factor and influenza. Some virus can cause the dangerous disease in certain type and is not catching in other type, this virus generally don't have clinical marking like wild fowl.

Infection marking is inclusive of exhalation, enteric, reproduce and annoying of nervous system. Ordinary sign happened by depression, activity dropped, feed intake and emaciation dropped. Other clinical marking is the increasing of lacrimation, cyanosis’ or fur molt certain area for example at male, bloated lead and face, diarrhoea, cough, and muccous, the increasing of irrigate consumption, green chromatic diarrhoea or turn white, produce the egg down. This symptom is became can individual or combination with other.

Virus infected at egged chicken usually influence the exhalation disease, the increasing of mortality, and produce egg down. Some dead poultry sudden without known the cause or marking before. At the broiler chicken, marking look like depression, downhill of it feed intake, the increasing of mortality. Death happened by 24-58 hours after chicken infection or ill. Some chicken can heal in a few weeks epidemic of bird flu which latterly knock over some Asian state especially in Indonesia have generated the separate care of this disease coming from poultry this can be catch at human being till cause death.

Bird Flu Definition
Bird flu or avian influenza is because of influenza virus type A of type H5N1. H5N1 own two nature of rapidly shifting: antigenic shift and antigenic drift. H5N1 can mix with the ordinary influenza virus that infect human being. Infection happened because by direct contact with the poultry or poultry dirt which infection by flu bird.

Flu Bird virus Infection
Flu Bird can infect human being when human being direct contact with the chicken or poultry which infected by flu bird. Poultry which is infected also release this virus through their feces, later run dry and fall to pieces to become a kind of powder. This powder breathed in by human being or other
Symptom of bird flu at human being

Prevention Getting HIV

Preventing from getting HIV by avoiding behaviors that might result in contact with infected blood, need more intensive attention on this advise below:
  • Never practice sex along your live or always use a condom during sexual activity, unless you are in a relationship with one partner and don't try with illegal partner.
  • Don't try have sex with someone who has HIV, it is very effective on prevent getting Aids.
  • Reduce your number of sex partners is bad but avoid numbers of sex partner is better, preferably to one partner.
  • Talk with your sex partner or partners about their sexual history, as well as your own sexual history. Find out whether your partner has engaged in high-risk behaviors.
  • Avoid alcohol and drugs, because drug and alcohol is close to bad relationship.
  • Do not share intravenous (IV) needles, syringes, cookers, cotton, cocaine spoons, or eyedroppers with others if you use drugs.

If you are HIV-positive (infected with HIV) or better don't engage in sex or needle-sharing with someone who could be infected with HIV, take precautions to avoid spreading the infection to others. You must much of pray to God because HIV can't pretend for long time.

  • Tell to your doctor or partners about your behavior and whether you are HIV positive.
  • There in no guarantee safe sex practices for partner, even using condoms.
You must close to you God so can understand for not donate blood, plasma, semen, body organs, or body tissues.
  • You also must be patient for not share personal items, such as toothbrushes, razors, or sex toys, that may be contaminated with blood, semen, or vaginal fluids.
  • An HIV-infected pregnant woman can prevent or reduce the risk of spreading HIV to her baby if she takes the medicine zidovudine (ZDV, formerly AZT) during pregnancy and if she does not breast-feed her baby. The baby should also receive ZDV after birth.

Smoke Causing Cancer

About 65.6 million woman and 43 million Children of Indonesian get exposed to cigarette smokes or said that they are as passive smoker. They have risk to get many diseases such as, bronchitis, tuberculoses, intestine cancer, liver cancer, stroke, and many other diseases cause of smoke. Other smoke also can cause the same diseases like exhaust of car, motorcycle, plant and others. Those numbers is from Kompas daily news about healthy or Kesehatan.
In Jakarta many car that should not be functionalize again, old car, bajay, and many bus that out of standard can cause cancer if you get exposed every day. Who get exposed from this, women and children, how many of them who get exposed from this? Not as much as those number but every city civil surely be exposed. They have risk from cancer and many other diseases more possible.

The dead people cause of those diseases always increasing every year, but no body can detect and guarantee the basic cause of those diseases. But if the patient mainly from city, this is cause by the pollution environment, not cause by cigarette. If the patient came from country or village, this disease can believe caused by cigarette. But how many people from village get cancer, very low.

So what realy causes of cancer dieses?

By the way cigarette remains not good for health and financial, better you stop for smoking. Because prevention is better than curing. Our environment is becoming worst and worst, oxygen consumption is always increasing. The increasing of consumption is not because of human live consumption but your car, your motorcycle, plant and other machine is consume Oxygen for out Atmosphere.

The global warming is not because of deforestations only, but more cause of high increasing for oxygen consume and release CO2 and CO from your car, your motorcycle, engine, and Plants and Industry.

Healing Power of Hobbies

Hobbies like Gardening, stamp collecting, even playing cards keep us healthy – in both body and mind.
Some one with serious hobby may had 3000 Barbie dolls. Her passion may seem odd, but experts agree: being an enthusiastic hobbyist is good for you.

Hobbies reduce stress, syas Alice Domar, director of the Mind/Body Centre for Women’s Health at Harvard Medical School. They distract you from everyday worries: if you’re focused on the pottery you’re making, you can’t fret about work, says Domar.

And knitting, or anything requiring repetitive motion, elicits the relaxation response, a feeling of overall serenity, marked by lowered blood pressure.

Hobbies provide a calming sense of control, says Domar, and research suggest this strengthens immunity. You may have a little say at work, but when you’re woodworking, you’re in charge.

You get the credit – and satisfaction – of a job well done.

We know that physical activity extends life, but less active pursuits are healthy as well. A Swedish study, showed people who regularly engaged in hobbies such as sewing and gardening were less likely to suffer mental decline. Similar research in The New England Journal of Medicine found that those who pursued mind-boosting activities – such as crossword puzzles – lowered their risk of Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia. “Any hobby that challenges the brain should have a positive effect on dementia risk,” says lead Author Joe Verghese, a neurologist.

Many hobbies are social. From dealing cards at bridge to swapping tips with other collectors, engaging with like-minded souls boost immunity. A Japanese study af almost 12,000 people found that men who engaged in hobbies or community activities were less likely to die of stroke or circulatory disorders than those who didn’t.

So keep fishing or collecting dolls. Other may think you’re obsessed – you know otherwise.

Don’t get hooked

Women may be more prone to addiction to some drugs than men. Dr. Jill Becker from the University of Michigan has found that rats injected with cocaine and oestrogen showed 20-50 per cent more “sensitisation” than those given cocaine alone. This suggests that, in particular, young women experiencing major hormonal changes (as well as older women on HRT) should be careful what they’re exposed to.

Type of Cells

Several major types of
Absorptive Cells
Absorptive cells often occur as continuous sheet on surfaces where material is transported to the cells. For example, the single layer of epithelial cells lining the surface of the small intestines selectively absorbs, food molecules from the gut into the
Secretor Cells
Secretor cells produce products that are subsequently deposited in either the bloodstream or a special duct to an organ, where they are used. The pancreas and pituitary are glands that have large number of secretor cells. Protein and other cell products are synthesized throughout the cytoplasm and transported to the Golgi apparatus, where they are packed into a membrane bonded vesicle that come to a cell's surface and discharge the secretion outside the cell.

Lipid Distribution and Function

The term lipid describes a group of biological compounds that are insoluble in water but are relatively soluble in many organic solvent.

Lipid can be classified in three subgroups based on chemical composition; hydrocarbon, simple lipids and complex lipids contain C, H, and O. Complex lipid contain one or more additional
Simple lipid can be aggregated into structural types, which are fatty acid is a long chain monocarboxylic acid. A wax is the ester of a long chain alcohol and a fatty acid. A triglyceride is the ester of a glycerol that contains tree FA molecules. Sterols are a special class of alcohols; they may combine with a fatty acid to form sterol esters.

Among the complex lipids, important structural types are phosphoglyceridas, phosphosphingolipids, and glycolipids. The parent phosphoglyceride, phosphatidic acid (PA), is similar in structure to triglyceride except that the 3-hydroxyl group of the glycerol moiety is esterified to phosphoric acid rather than to FA. Further esterification of the phosphoric acid of PA with a variety of small, hydroxyl containing molecules leads to a series of derived phosphoglycerides, including phospphatidyl choline (PC), commonly known as lecithin, and phosphatidyl ethanolamine (PE).

The phosphosphingolipids are derived from sphingosine. The formation of an amide with an FA with the 2-position yield ceramide. Esterification of the 1-hydroxyl of ceramide with phosphosphingolipid. If the 1-hydroxyl group of ceramide is linked instead to a simple sugar, a cerebroside glycolipid is formed. The further addition of several amino sugars yields more complex glycolipids, the gangliosides.

Lipid Distribution and Function
Lipids are found in all organism as structural components of the cell membrane. In most animals the major membrane lipids are lecithin, phosphatidyl ethanolamine, phosphatidyl serine, and a sterol, cholesterol. Cell membranes of the central nervous system contain, in additional to the above, shingmyelin, cerebrosides, and gangliosides. In higher plant membranes, lecithin and PE predominate, although phosphatidyl glycerol (PG) and phosphatidyl inositol (PI), know as phytosterols, are commonly present.

Bacterial membranes are unique in that lecithin is rarely present and sterols are completely absent; PE and PG are usually the major lipids.

Although triglycerides are not important membrane lipids, they are stored in most animals and plants as a metabolic energy reserve. In vertebrate TG is located in adipose (fat) tissue. In insect TG is concentrated in a specific fat body that fuction both as a depot and as a center of triglyceride metabolism. In higher plant TG is found in the
Lipids have a number of specialized functions. In mammals subcutaneous fat retards loss of body heat. Hydrocarbons and waxes on insect cuticle, as well as on plant leaves and fruit, aid in water retention. Certain cyclic FA, the prostaglandins, are involve in blood clotting and hormonal responses in

Feeling Stressed? Call a Friend

Scientist studying the body’s response to stress have long focused on the “fight or flight” model – that animals sensing danger release hormones that speed things up or either fight foes or flee, fast.
But this view is incomplete, says Shelley Taylor, a University of California, Los Angeles, psychology professor. Her theory: Women have potent stress-fighting system based partly on oxytocin, the “cuddling hormone”.
Known for being produced in women during childbirth and lactation and in both sexes during orgasm, oxytocin has also been shown to boost bonding in rats, sheep and prairie voles. And one study found that giving male and female rats daily shots of it cut blood pressure and the stress hormone cortisol while promoting wound healing and possibly, Though women’s blood may not hold more oxytocin than men’s, it does have more oestrogen, which increases the available oxytocin’s effectiveness. To Taylor and others, this shows that women naturally cope with stress not just by fighting or fleeing, but by finding comfort in friends too.
Most intriguing is how, by acting as a cause and a product of animal bonding, oxytocin may feed a kind of self-perpetuating loop of stress reduction.
So, when stress hits, call a friend. If you don’t have one, make one. If all else fails, cuddle up to a prairie vole.

Meningitis

Meningitis is a potentially fatal inflammation of the meninges, or membranes, covering the brain and spinal cord. The causative organisms, usually bacterial or viral, gain access to the cerebrospinal fluid and follow the space around vessels. The epidemic disease called
Transmission is by direct contact between people. The initial symptoms of meningitis are extreme headache, rapidly rising fever, stiffness of the neck, and extreme irritability and drowsiness. Further progression depends on the causative agents and the health of the host. The patient may experience deafness, muscle weakness in the face, and other sign of nerve paralysis.

Convulsions, mental retardation, and behavioral disturbances may also occur, and may remain in some cases. Many patients recover fully. Diagnosis is often made by lumbar puncture (spinal tap), whereby direct access is gained to the site of infection. Special stains and culture of the extracted fluid will often identify the specific organism so that proper therapy vaccine against. Haemophilus influenzae
Classification of neoplasm as either benign or malignant relates to their behavior. A benign neoplasm, for instance, is encapsulated; malignant neoplasms are not. Malignancies grow more rapidly than do benign forms and invade adjacent, normal tissue. Tissue of a benign tumor is structured similarly to the tissue from which it is derived; malignant tissue has an abnormal and unstructured appearance. Most malignant tumors, in fact, show abnormalities in chromosome structure, that is, the structure of the DNA molecules that constitute the genetic materials duplicated and passed on the later generations of cells. Most important, benign neoplasm do not metastasize, that is, begin to grow at sites other than the point of origin, whereas malignant tumors do. The term cancer always denotes a malignant neoplasm, whereas the term of Tumor indicates a readily defined mass of tissue distinguishable from normal living tissue.

Skin Cancer

A change in a mole or other spot on the skin may be the first sign of an early malignant melanoma or other form of
A common benign mole is usually round and symmetrical, with smooth, even borders (top left). A persistence reddish patch or irritated area on the arms, legs, or shoulders may be a sign of basal-cell carcinoma (top right). Some forms of early malignant melanoma have an asymmetrical shape (bottom left) or an uneven border with notched or scalloped edges (bottom right).

The form of skin cancer that is sometimes to be avoided is warts or a nibble, abnormal moles and abnormal pimple or acne. If you have this abnormal sign on your skin you must check this condition to the doctor to make sure that those conditions are not including to dangerous cancer.

Lose Weight Naturally

Lose weight naturally means that rather than counting every calorie or scratching entire food groups from your diet, make healthful eating — along with fitness and stress reduction — a part of your daily lifestyle.

By thinking of weight loss not as a primary goal but rather as a by-product of making important health choices, you are on your way to addressing the underlying causes of weight gain — not merely the symptoms.

This approach can benefit you for long term result then other lose weight methods. How can you lose your weight naturally? Here are some key habits that you can do:

Healthful diet

Remember this: "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants."
These 3 points form the basis of a healthful diet:
1. Eat food. "If it’s something your great-grandmother wouldn’t recognize," says Mark Hyman, M.D., author of UltraMetabolism: The Simple Plan for Automatic Weight Loss (Scribner, 2006), "you probably shouldn't eat it." Choose whole fresh foods rather than processed food products. In other words, don't just avoid processed and refined white bread, but also limit enriched whole wheat bread, which is loaded with processed nutrients and preservatives. Fresh whole grain bread straight from the bakery would be better, while a dish of cooked wheat berries would be even more nutritious. The greater amount of food you eat that is whole and unmodified (rather than being a food product), the more healthful (and — believe it or not — satisfying) your diet will be.
2. Not too much. There's no getting around that one of the most healthful and effective techniques for weight loss is moderate calorie restriction. Since weight loss boils down to consuming fewer calories than you burn, portion control is a non-negotiable element. To safely lose weight, shoot for a deficit of 250 to 500 calories per day — anything greater could leave you very hungry and more vulnerable to impulsive indulgences with bad-for-you food.
Tip: Restricting the number of calories is one of the most difficult requirements to weight loss. Try substituting quality for quantity. You may find that by choosing organic whole foods, you'll need less to feel satiated.
3. Mostly plants. Vegetables should make up the largest portion of your diet, as the antioxidants in fresh produce have a powerful effect against the free radicals in our bodies. Also, since vegetables (especially leafy ones) are low in carbohydrates, eating a plant-based diet translates into fewer calories overall. Remember, variety not only adds spice but longevity, too. As omnivores, we require a certain amount of complexity in our diet in order to stay healthy. Include as many different colors and varieties of fruits and vegetables in your diet as you can.
Proper hydration Don't underestimate the importance of drinking water for weight loss. Sufficient water intake is crucial for you to achieve optimal digestion, absorption, circulation and waste excretion.
Depending on how much produce you eat, the climate you live in and how much you exercise, you should be drinking an average of 6 to 8 glasses of water a day. Remember that fruit juice, tea, coffee and sodas don't count as water.
We often misinterpret thirst as hunger — which throws off our natural appetite cues. By staying properly hydrated throughout the day, you will deter false hunger pangs and be able to more easily discern your true hunger levels. Another bonus? Staying hydrated fights fatigue, giving you more energy to stick with your exercise plan.
Tip: Carry a water bottle with you wherever you go so that you have no excuse for getting parched.

Natural supplements

While your focus should be on getting nutrition from whole foods rather than relying on supplements, ensuring basic nutritional support through a few well-chosen supplements is a reasonable backup. Begin with a high-quality multivitamin and mineral combination, and choose a brand that doesn’t contain fillers, binders, coloring agents, gluten or lactose.
For natural compounds that may speed up weight loss, consider calcium, chromium and green tea supplements. While it is unclear how effective these supplements may be in enhancing weight loss, they have few known risks and some potential benefits. Nonetheless, it is not standard medical practice to recommend them.

Calcium (400 to 500 milligrams daily) may play a role in weight control by regulating energy metabolism. Chromium (400 micrograms daily) appears to improve insulin function and blood sugar control — which may make weight control easier. The caffeine and antioxidant catechins in green tea can help enhance calorie burning by increasing thermogenesis (the production of heat in cells). You can either drink several cups a day or take it in capsule form (anywhere from 250 to 500 milligrams daily)

Tip: Taking your vitamins and supplements (either with a meal or just before) may reduce stomach upset.

Stress reduction

Stress and weight gain are closely related. Stress can cause your adrenal glands to release adrenaline and cortisol into your bloodstream, which in turn can cause the body to conserve fat.
Chronic stress throws your metabolism out of whack and can lead to weight gain regardless of calorie intake. Cortisol (the stress hormone) makes your body less sensitive to other hormones — most notably to leptin, the hormone that tells your brain when you are full.
There are other factors at work (i.e., the fact that people turn to food to comfort themselves in times of stress).
Relaxation, experts say, is the best defense against stress. "When someone learns how to consciously acknowledge the presence of stress, he can then make a deliberate choice in how he'll react to it," says Steven Gurgevich, Ph.D., author of The Self-Hypnosis Diet: Use the Power of Your Mind to Make Any Diet Work for You (Sounds True, 2007). "Instead of 'emotional eating,' they can take a brisk walk, do something productive or use an active or passive relaxation technique."
Tip: Meditation, yoga, prayer, baths, music, tai chi, hypnosis and breathing exercises all may induce the relaxation response.

Fitness

For people who are more than moderately overweight, exercise can be daunting (at best) and even physically excruciating due to the pressure your weight puts on your joints. But you have to start somewhere: Wendy McClure, a fitness consultant and trainer listed by Men's Journal as one of America’s 100 Best Trainers, says very heavy people should not jump into an exercise boot camp. "I often suggest beginning with classes in a pool, because they can move freely in the water for a long period of time without joint problems," she says. Walking is another excellent way to launch an exercise program. Walking as little as 15 minutes a day could significantly improve your health. The more out of shape you are, the more fitness gains you will experience early on. Use a pedometer — available for as little as $10 — and slowly build up to 10,000 steps a day (about 4 to 5 miles). Studies show that this level of activity can reduce blood pressure, significantly increase calorie burn and improve cardio fitness (again, particularly in people who are less fit to begin with). No matter your baseline fitness level, choose activities you enjoy (ice skating, rock climbing, square dancing), and do them with people you like. Many studies show that people are more likely to stick with an exercise program if they have an activity buddy —the commitment drives people to show up even on days when their motivation is low. Also, don't be a fair-weather friend to exercise. "A consistent routine of exercising each day... shows the best and most successful results," McClure says. It is healthier — and safer — to exercise for 20 to 30 minutes a day on most days than to procrastinate all week and try to punish yourself for 2 hours on a Saturday.

Success with a natural weight-loss approach doesn't equal quick results. By introducing long-term and lasting changes instead of drastic, unsustainable ones, you may lose weight more slowly — perhaps only a pound a week. Still, the more gradual the loss is, the more likely that the pounds will be gone for good.

Go lose your weight naturally and have a healthier life.

The ruler and hourglass body shape

The ruler body

This is another body shape that is common in men. Women with ruler bodies are often reffered as having boyish figures with few curves, and seem tobe naturally thin without even trying – just like celebrities Keira Khightly and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Their figures are squarish because the width of their bust, waist and hips vary slightly.
Rulers seem to be eating all the time without getting any fatter.

Although it might sound like a good problem to have, ruler-shaped bodies often wish they could put on some weight and have a fuller figure rather than looking thin.
Such a figure does have its benefits, such as missing out the myriad health problems associated with too much body fat, but it is believed that such a body has a higher risk of developing osteoporosis.

The hourglass figure

This body shape applies only to females. Hollywood legends such as Marilyn Monroe were regarded as having the perfect hourglass figure, but now it’s back in fashion – with Scarlett Johansson and Catherine Zeta Jones.

Women with an hourglass figure have soulders and hips of a similar width and a smaller waist, giving them classic female curves without looking too skinny.
The trouble is that hourglass shaped women often find they put on weight quite easily, while finding is difficult to build muscle.

That means maintaining those curves will require a healthy, low fat diet and regular cardiovascular exercise.

Now that you know what body shape you are and realize that it is genetically determined, let this be the basic for making sure that you are

The pear-shaped body

Men or women woth pear shaped figures are usually bottom heavy. They appear to have a narrow upper body compared to their wider lower body.
And if you need some celebrity idol with a pear-shaped figure, look no further than Jennifer Lopez.
Research has shown that people with this body shape show less risk of developing heart conditions. This could be because hip-fat contains a natural anti-inflammatory element called adiponectin, which prevents arteries from swelling up and becoming blocked.
Storing fat around the hips also has far fewer health risks than storing fat around the waist, although as with all body shapes, it’s important to work hard and eat balanced meal to maintain a healthy weight.

The apple-shaped body

Many men are considered to be apple-shaped – their bodies have a silhouette that resembles an upside down triangle. This is definitely a common body-type for men, but not for women.

Women with an apple-shaped figure will have afuller bust and waist, but smaller bum, and will tend to accumulate weight around their stomach rather than around their hips.
Keep that waistline in check to reduce risk of heart disease or diabetes. A healthy diet and active lifestyle are essential, as is an active lifestyle. Toning and strengthening the upper body will benefit “apples” greatly.

The study of cancer is known as the field of oncology. In the early 1990s nearly 6 million new cancer cases and more than 4 million deaths from cancer were being reported worldwide each year. The leading fatal cancer in the world is lung cancer, which has risen rapidly because of the spread of cigarette smoking in developing countries. Stomach cancer, prevalent in Asia, is the second most fatal form of cancer in men, after lung cancer. Also on the increase is the leading killer of women, breast cancer. The fourth on the list is colon or rectum cancer, a disease that mainly strikes the elderly. In the United States in the early 1990s more than one-fifth of all deaths were caused by
In 1993 the American Cancer Society predicted that about 33 percent of Americans will eventually develop some form of the disease. Skin cancer is the most prevalent cancer in both men and women, followed by prostate cancer in men and breast cancer in women. Lung cancer, however, causes the most deaths in both men and women.

What Is My Body Shape - Shape Really Does Matter

What is my body shape? The answer is that there are 4 human body shapes. Can you imagine, if everyone had the same body shape, the world would be a boring place. Thankfully, everybody has a different body type and shape. Just as our facial features are inherited genetically, our body shapes are, too. That’s why you often hear people say,”I’ve inherited my mother’s waist and hips” or “I’ve got my dad’s shoulders and height”.
It is obvious that our body shapes affect our lives in a number of different ways. Our body shapes often determine what and how much we eat and exercise, what we wear and how we feel about ourselves.
Men and women often are commonly described as having pear, apple or ruler shaped bodies. These terms are used to describe the areas where the body has a tendency of storing fat.
For example, pears tend to store fat below their waist, usually on their hips and thoghs, whole apples store fat above their waists, around the mid section.
The fourth body shape that only women have is the hourglass figure.
While it is almost impossible to alter your body shape completely, there are things you can do to look after your body – and look your best no matter what body shape you have.
Now you have known the answer about your body shape. We’ll see about
In a five year study of more than 2,000 youngsters, those who skipped breakfast weighed om average 2.3 kg more than those who ate first thing in the day, the BBC reported. And this was so even though the breakfast eaters consumed more calories in the course of the day.

But the study in the journal Pediatrics found that those who ate breakfast – and then ate more during the day – were likely to be mote active.

The research adds weight to evidence that people who eat breakfast – whatever their age – are leaner than those who do not.

“It may seem counter-intuitive,” said Mark Pereira, who led the research. “But while they ate more calories, they did more to burn those off, and that may be because those who ate breakfast did not feel so lethargic.

“While it’s best to go for a healthy option, a wholegrain cereal for instance, the evidence does seem to suggest that eating anything is better than eating nothing at all.”
Around 25 percent of the group in the study regularly missed breakfast, and the problem was particularly pronounced among young women.

“They skip breakfast because they worry about weight gain – and it’s ironic that the ones who aren’t worried and eat in the mornings are the ones who keep their weight down,” said Pereira.
Tam Fry, chairman of the Child Growth Foundation at the National Obesity Forum, said the findings of the study showed just how important it was to relay a clear and consistent message to young people.

“If you eat well first thing, you’ll feel brighter, you’ll have more get up and go and you’ll expend more energy. Eating regular meal is vital, and a proper breakfast is very important.”

Skipping breakfast does not help you lose weight!

Wholegrain cereal is best. But anything is better than no breakfast. You are likely to be more active and burn off more calories during the day if you do eat breakfast because you won’t feel lethargic. Those who eat breakfast are more likely to keep their weight down.

So, don’t do skipping breakfast to lose your weight.

White Blood Cells

There are three types; granulocytes, lymphocytes, and monocytes.
Platelets
Platelets, or thrombocytes, are tiny bits of cytoplasm, much smaller than the red blood cells but lacking a nucleus. They are round or biconcave disks and are normally about 30 to 40 times more numerous than the white blood cells. They are produced as broken fragments of the megakaryocytes. The plateletss' primary function is in the clotting process described below.

Plasma
Plasma is a complex, colorless solution, about 90 percent water, that carries different ions and molecules, including protein, enzymes, hormones, nutrients, waste materials such as urea, and fibrinogen, the protein that aids in clotting. The most abundant plasma protein is albumin, which normally keeps a large portion of the body water in the blood. When the plasma albumin concentration becomes dangerously low, because of disease, free water collects in the tissues outside the blood vessels, producing swelling called edema.

Globulin are large protein molecules of many chemical structures and functions. The
An important function of plasma is to transport nutrients to the tissue. Glucose, absorb from the bowels, constitutes a major source of
Red Blood Cells
Red blood cells, or erythrocytes, are tiny, round, biconcave disks averaging7.5 microns (0.003 in) in diameter. A normal 76.5 kg (170-lb) main has about 5 l (5.3 qt) of blood, containing more than 25 trillion red cells. Because the normal life span of red cells is only about 120 days, more than 200 billion cells are normally destroyed each day by the spleen and must be replaced. Red cells are made in the bone marrow.

The main function of the red blood cells is to transport oxygen from the lungs to the tissue. Oxidations of various food substances to supply most of the energy requirements of the body results in carbon dioxide, one of the chief waste products, and red blood cells carry it to the lungs for release and to pick up more oxygen.

The substance in the red blood cells that is largely responsible for their ability to carry oxygen and carbon dioxide is hemoglobin, the material that gives the cells their red color. Produced in the bone marrow and broken down in the spleen, it is a protein complex comprising many linked amino acids, and occupies almost the entire volume of a red blood cell. Essential to its structure and function is iron.

Blood Typing
The cell wall contains many antigenic proteins, which determine the blood type. Among these proteins are the antigens. A and B, the major blood group factors. Blood with antigen B is group B. Blood with both antigens is called AB, and blood with neither is called group O. Normally, the plasma of every person contains an antibody against the A or B antigens in the red cells are determined by mixing the cells with known typing serums. The antibodies in the serum or plasma are determined by mixing it with cells of known A or B type. Such typing is necessary in preparation for blood transfusion. Antigens of the various Rh and Hr types, M and N, S and Kell, Duffy, and many others also exist in the red blood cell. All like the A and B antigens, are inherited. When the red cell antigens are determined, they show so many different combinations as to make a persons blood type almost as individual as a fingerprint.

Antibodies against antigens other than A and B do not normally occurs in the plasma. They may appear after transfusion, however, and may cause transfusion reactions and destruction of red blood cells or hemolytic disease of the
Lesions
The appearance of abnormal changes, or lesions, in the skin is an important element in diagnosis and treatment. Various lesions can occur, not all of them diseases related. A flat lesion of a color differing from surrounding skin is called a Freckle. A papule is a solid, elevated by superficial mass, such as a raised Mole or a Wart. A wheal is a The appearance of such lesions may be modified by secondary changes. These include scales or flakes of dead skin, as seen in Psoriasis and Dandruff; crusts, typically dried masses of material that have oozed out as in impetigo; fissures, or sharp breaks, as seen in athlete's foot; Ulcers, or destruction of one or more skin layers, exposing underlying tissue replacing lost tissue; and lichenification, a thickened scaly area in which normal skin creases and lines are exaggerated. Lesions may be seen in several different lesions.

Malignant Tumors
Any metastasizing tumor from else where in the body may appear in the skin. Many malignant tumors also originate in the skin. Four should be mentioned. Basal cell carcinoma may originate from basal cells of the epidermis. It almost never metastasizes, and it is easily cured. Squamous cell carcinoma does metastasize. Both tumors are common, especially in the elderly and in those overexposed to the Sun. Malignant melanoma derives from the same embryonic nervous tissue that produces moles. Finally, the once rare tumor called Kaposi's sarcoma has become more frequent because of

Thyroid hormone secretion is controlled by thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), or thyrotropin, from the anterior pituitary. In turn the resultant increase in the level of thyroid hormones in the blood serves to signal the pituitary to stop releasing the thyrotropin. This haemostatic mechanism keeps the level of thyroid hormones in the circulatory system within a constant range. A lack of thyroid function in infants causes cretinism, whereas a loss or low levels of the thyroid hormones later in life result in hypothyroidism, or myxedema and possibly Goiter. Over production of the hormones, or hyperthyroidism, also may result in goiter.

The tapeworm head (scolex) has hooks or suckers used to attack the parasite to the host’s intestinal lining. The “body” is composed of segments (proglottids) which are separate, sexually functional individuals that can synchronize their muscular activity to keep the colony mobile.

An addult pork tapeworm lives in the intestines of humans, folding itself in accordion style to fit its long body into small spaces. A pork tapeworm, which grows up to 10 m (33 ft) long, can live in the small intestine, which is 6 m (20 ft) long. Humans get tapeworms by eating poorly cooked pork that is infested with tapeworm eggs.

Younger proglottids have testes; are the worm get older, the testes shrivel up and are replaced by ovaries and a uterus. Proglottids having male sex organs release sperm that travel to the older proglottids and fertilize the eggs.

Proglottids that contain developing embryos break away and are excreted with feces. Larvae develop and, if the waste matter is eaten by an animal, become dormant and encrysted in the
Most headaches are caused not by organic disease but by fatigue, emotional disorders, or
Brain tissue itself is insensitive to pain, as is the bony covering of the brain (the cranium). Headache pain results from the stimulation of such pain-sensitive structures as the membranous linings of the brain (the meninges) and the nerves of the cranium and upper neck. This stimulation can be produced by inflammation, by the dilation of blood vessels of the head, or by muscle spasms in the neck and head. Headache brought on by muscle spasms are classified as tension headaches; those caused by the dilation of blood vessel are called vascular headaches. The major groupings of headaches besides those brought on by organic disorders are Tension Headaches and Vascular Headaches.

Almost 90% of all persons seeking medical help for headaches suffer from tension headaches. These are characterized by a diffuse ache that either spreads over the entire head of feels a tight headband.

The most common types of vascular headache are migraine and cluster headaches, for which no known cure exist. About 60% of all migraine sufferers are women, and most patients first develop symptoms between the ages of 10 and 30. In approximately 30% of all cases, migraine attacks are preceded by warning signs such as blind spots, zigzag flashing lights, numbness in parts of the body, and distorted visual images.

Migraine pain almost always occurs on only one side and is usually accompanied by nausea. Factors that may trigger migraine attacks
